GUWAHATI: After the three-day visit to Assam of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, it will now be the turn of President Droupadi Murmu to land in Guwahati on a two-day visit to the State. The President will arrive here on October 13.
It will be her first visit to the State after being elected to the highest office in the country.
Murmu will take part in several Government programmes during her stay in the State. Although the official itinerary has not been disclosed, but it is reliably learnt that on the first day of her visit Murmu will attend a programme at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT-G) in the Amingaon area here. Later, she will attend separate programmes at the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra at Panjabari and the Assam Administrative Staff College at Khanapara.
It is also learnt that she will also virtually participate in the inauguration of the Dhubri Medical College and Hospital and some other projects.
It may be mentioned that the first batch of students will take admission this year after it was accorded recognition by the National Medical Commission (NMC), which was earlier known as Medical Council of India.
The NMC has approved 100 MBBS seats for the Dhubri Medical College and Hospital.
Several IAS, ACS and Assam Land Revenue Service (ALRS) officers will be delegated additional responsibility by the State Government to ensure that the President's visit passes off smoothly.
