GUWAHATI: Even as only four days to go for the start of the first-semester evaluation, not all primary schools in the State have got evaluation books and exercise books, besides textbooks. Asom Rajyik Prathamik Shikshak Sanmilani secretary general Ratul Chandra Goswami said in a statement on Wednesday that be it teachers’ dues or students’ rights, primary education is neglected in the State. “An environment for students rushing to private schools from government schools has been created in Assam. Dhansiri sub-division with fewer primary schools has a total of 1,539 students from class I and class V who haven’t got textbooks. This is just an example. Most of the students in almost all districts have been deprived of textbooks,” Goswami said and added: “Every year evaluation and an exercise book are given against four subjects to each student. If books are not given to the students immediately, we will be compelled to make parents move to the SSA Mission office.”
