Primary Teachers’ body threatens stir over charter of demands

GUWAHATI:Under the directive of the All India Primary Teachers Federation, the Axom Rajyik Prathmik Shikshak Sanmilani has declared wide-spread extended demonstrations from the block to the national level.

The president of the Sanmilani, Jiban Ch Bora that even after repeated requests to resolve certain long pending issues of the teachers, the government has feigned a deaf ear. As such, a protest will be staged all over India, including Assam at all office of the block elementary education on November 30, 2019. A second dharna will be staged before the Deputy Commissioner (DC) office on December 23, 2019. Principal secretary of the Sanmilani, Ratul Ch Goswami said that even after the mentioned two demonstrations, if the Government does not meet their demands, they will they stage a twenty five - hour long dharna on January 20, 2020. The next day, on January 21, 2020, they will stage a democratic protest ‘Dispur Chalo’.

“If after all the andolans, the Government is still unmoved, our protest will go national and the All India Primary Teacher Federation, which will include a 50 member team from Assam, will stage a demonstration in New Delhi from February 21 to 26, 2020,” said Ratul Ch Goswami. “The Axom Rajyik Prathmik Shikshak Sanmilani demands that the primary school’s headmasters’ issues are resolved and the graduate teachers’ grade pay is returned. Also, we are skeptical about students not being provided with school uniforms, which is their due as per Right To Education (RTE). If after all the demonstrations, if the Government turns a blind eye, the All India Primary Teacher Federation along with 5000 teachers from the Axom Rajyik Prathmik Shikshak Sanmilani will stage a democratic protest ‘Parliament Gherao’ in New Delhi on February 27, 2020,” said Jiban Ch Bora.
