Probe APSC Scam Thoroughly: All Assam Unnayan Parishad (AAUP)

GUWAHATI: The All Assam Unnayan Parishad (AAUP) has raised the demand for thorough inquiry into the cash-for-job scam in the APSC (Assam Public Service Commission) so as to punish the guilty.

Talking to the media at Guwahati Press Club on Tuesday, AAUP president Mausom Kumar Ujir said: “All APSC members during the terms of Rakesh Paul as APSC chairman should be brought under the purview of the investigation. Even as Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has been claiming to have made the APSC free from anomalies, the commission is far from being free from errors. This has come to light in the anomalies found in the answer key of APSC main examination, 2018. This has made us believe that the future of the meritorious candidates of Assam is still uncertain.”

AAUP general secretary Chandan Bordoloi raised the demand for elimination of the existing coal, betel nut and fertilizer syndicates from the State. He said: “An unscrupulous racket stocks fertilizer meant for the farmers of Assam at godowns in Barpeta and Rangiya and then sent them to Myanmar via Meghalaya and Barak valley. A bag of fertilizer that costs Rs 253 in Assam is sold at Rs 3,000 in Myanmar. This racket has to be rooted out for the interests of the farmers of the State.”
