GUWAHATI: The Directorate of Secondary Education has taken an initiative to fill the vacant posts for highschool teachers in the State, said a source from the department. In this regard, a meeting was held at office of the Director of Secondary Education Assam, at Kahilipara on Tuesday.
School inspectors from 21 districts and representatives from the remaining districts were present at the meeting. Director Phanindra Jidung has ordered the school inspectors to submit a report regarding the vacant posts of the highschool teachers in their respective districts. He also ordered the officials to submit rosters of allocated posts and vacant posts by Friday.
This year, as many as 11,332 candidates cleared the highschool TET exams successfully. The results for the exams were declared on March 4; however, till now they have not receive any update from the Education Department regarding their appointment. These candidates were supposed to be appointed after 45 days of the declaration of results but they are yet to receive their pass certificates.
According to a department source, the Directorate has started the appointment process and thus the meeting was held at the Kahilipara office on Tuesday. The Director asked the school inspectors and representatives to submit a report about the number of contractual teachers who are working against the vacant posts.
