Guwahati: Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi celebrated Diwali with the BSF Jawans at Sutarkhandi Border Outpost along Indo-Bangla border. The Governor decided to celebrate the festival of lights with the BSF Jawans posted along the Indo- Bangla border in recognition to their selfless and dedicated endeavour to guard the international border day in and day out.

The Governor on the occasion also conveyed his Diwali greetings and presented sweets and pleasantries with the Border Guards of Bangladesh and lit diyas at the Flag Post of BSF at the border crossing point.

The Governor also presented sweets and spent time with the BSF Jawans and hailed their dedication as the sentinel of border. Addressing the jawans, the Governor said that posted miles away from their home and family, their duty along the border may have deprived them of enjoying Diwali with their near and dear ones. However, to motivate them and to help the jawans forget their alienation from their families, he decided to celebrate Diwali with the Jawans stationed along the international border.

He also lauded the jawans and said that they are acting as the lights of fearlessness and dedication and instilling the sense of security among the people living along the international border. Celebrating Diwali would enable them to light up their spirit to serve the nation better. On the occasion the Governor also witnessed the sparkle of fire crackers in the sky along the border. This was stated in a press release.
