GUWAHATI: The All Assam Non Sanctioned College Teachers' Association (AANSCTA) has urged the State's Education Minister Ranoj Pegu to provincialize all non-sanctioned departments and non-sanctioned posts in the provincialized colleges of Assam.

Addressing the media here on Wednesday, AANSCTA president Pinaki Ray and general secretary Nipam Nath Dev Sarma stated that they recently submitted a memorandum to the Education Minister in this connection, which pointed out that non-sanctioned departments were established in various colleges as per the University Grants Commission (UGC) NAAC Peer Team's recommendations and the objectives of earlier National Policy on Education 1986 and 1992, with the intention of expanding higher education with regard to various regular and job-oriented professional courses like BBA, BCA, Biotechnology etc., which also matches the major requirements of the National Education Policy 2020.

The AANSCTA office-bearers said that proper guidelines were followed and necessary permission and affiliation were obtained from the respective affiliating universities for establishing these departments. Many of these teachers have qualifications like Ph.D, NET and SLET etc.

However, Ray and Sarma said, the non-sanctioned post teachers have been working in their respective posts for a long time without any Government salary. They also do not have any scope for promotion or any other related benefits.

They appealed to the Education Minister to take an initiative to ensure that the Government discusses the issue during the next session of the Assam Legislative Assembly for provincializing the non-sanctioned departments and posts in the provincialised colleges of the State.
