GUWAHATI, Jan 17: Terming the BJP and the AIUDF as communal parties, the newly-formed Raijor Dal sent a formal letter to AJP (Asom Jatiya Parishad) president Lurinjyoti Gogoi on Sunday for electoral understanding.
Addressing the media at party office at Madghoria here on Sunday, the party's working president Bhasco De Saikia said, "The two regional powers have to unite to formulate a strategy to defeat the BJP. We've sent the letter formally for talks on the issue."
Saikia said that Raijor Dal can't go for any alliance with the communal AIUDF. In its recent conference at Moran, the party did take the decision to go with the AJP in the Assembly poll in the State."
Two other working president of Raijor Dal – Jitul Deka and Kabindra Chetia Phukan – were also present at the press meet.
Meanwhile, when reporter asked AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi about the letter sent by the Raijor Dal, he said, "Our alliance with the Raijor Dal is certain. Our representatives at Raijor Dal's conference did clear our alliance with the party. We want friendship with all regional parties."
