Ranjit Kumar Das welcomes initiative to upgrade Dehing Patkai into national park

GUWAHATI: State BJP (Bharatiya Janta Party) president Ranjit Kumar Das has expressed his gratitude and welcomed Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal's initiative to upgrade the Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary into a national park. Dass said the CM has taken a historical decision which will help to preserve the rainforest for years to come. "The initiative is a major milestone in the road towards a pollution-free Assam," the president asserted.

The Chief Minister on Monday directed the forest department to prepare a draft notification and hold public hearing to take the views of local dwellers residing around the Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary. He also instructed to prepare action plan for preserving the adjoining areas of the wildlife sanctuary and include the opinion of the public in the adjoining areas in the draft action plan.
