GUWAHATI: The mortal remains of veteran politician and former Chief Minister Dr Bhumidhar Barman were taken to various places on Monday. The body was first taken to the Assam Assembly where Dr Barman spent vast time of his political career as an MLA and minister. The legislators from the ruling and opposition benches, officials and staffs of the Assembly secretariat paid floral tributes to the departed soul. Cabinet minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua and DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta paid tributes to Dr Barman when the body was taken to the Janata Bhawan or State Secretariat in Dispur. The body was later taken to the Rajiv Bhawan, the Assam Congress headquarters where large number of people paid tributes. His body reached his birth place at Belsor in Nalbari district on Monday evening. Dr Barman will be cremated with full State honour at Belsor on Tuesday.
