GUWAHATI: Child labour cases continue to be a serious problem in Kamrup (M), as since June, 33 cases of child labour have been reported. The maximum number of children rescued is from commercial areas.

According to officials, "Child labour is practised more in hotels, construction sites, and other commercial sites. These data are from the month of June, and we will continue with the month of July too. The increase in numbers shows that these cases are increasing at an alarming rate. But as cases increase, people are becoming aware of it. They come forward and register cases against it. They come up with data."

They further said, "We have different teams located in various parts of the city where they work accordingly. We jointly collaborate with NGOs and rescue children. Also, strict actions will be taken against those who assign child labour."
