GUWAHATI: The RPF (Railway Protection Force) Guwahati rescued a woman 'destitute' woman (45) and a one-year-old child from the Guwahati Railway Station on Thursday.

According to reports, the woman and the child were rescued from Silchar - Guwahati passenger train (05616 Dn) with the help of a lady passenger.

The woman was unable to speak properly and seemed to be mentally disturbed, the RPF stated. Upon repeatedly asking, she disclosed her name as Reena, but she could not tell her detailed address.

After conducting the COVID-19 test, the woman with her child was handed over to the State Home for Woman on Friday.

"As desired by the State Home Authority, a formal order has been obtained from CJM, Kamrup (M) for the safe custody of the rescued destitute woman and her child at State Home for Women, Jalukbari," stated the RPF Guwahati.
