Rs 4.30 lakh looted from bank account

GUWAHATI: Rs 4.30 lakh has been fraudulently transferred from the SBI (State Bank India) account of a senior citizen of Hengrabari, Hemkanta Majumdar, since January 19, 2021.

Majumdar went to the ATM near LP School in the Hengrabari area on January 19, 2021. Because of some hiccups, he couldn't withdraw the amount he wanted to. A stranger standing near him offered his service to help out Majumdar, and got the amount withdrawn. With his sleight of hand, the stranger, gave Mazumdar back another ATM.

Majumdar came to know the ATM card given to him by the stranger is not his only when he detected fraudulent transfer of cash amounting to Rs 4.30 lakh from his account in a few installments after January 19, 2020.

He filed a case (259/21 u/s 406/423/379 of IPC) in this connection at Dispur Police Station. Investigation is going on.
