Guwahati: M P Jain, the President of the Kamrup Chamber Of Commerce today stated that as per telephonic conversation with Kamrup Metro DC Biswajit Pegu, the Government has agreed that COVID-19 negative certificate is not necessary for the opening of shops and Government will also issue a notification to that effect shortly.

"On the basis of clarification by DC Kamrup Metro, it is my request to all the trade bodies kindly to go ahead and open the shops/business establishments from Monday 20th July 2020 as per the circular of the government", said Jain in a release.

However, the businesses must compulsorily follow the rule of "one side of the street on one day and another side on the next day" strictly and this can be mutually decided by the locality businessmen and they are also free to take the help of neighboring police station.

Jain in his communique further appealed to the traders/owners of business establishments that they are also required to strictly follow the rule of 50% of the workforce only to be utilised.

"We all should maintain social distancing, wear masks, use sanitizers, and follow other instructions by the government. We should also avoid mass gathering. If possible, an infrared thermometer and oxygen meter should be kept in the shops which would add to the existing precautionary measure. It is our moral duty for the safety of all concerned including our family", he added in the communique.

"Government may do random testing of employees and owners from shop to shop. For that, we must cooperate with the Government for the sake of the safety of everyone", Jain added.
