GUWAHATI: The salary-deprived primary teachers have raised the demand the government to regularize their jobs and announce about it publicly before August 10. The Sadou Asom Betan Banchita Karmarata Prathamik Sikshak Santha (SABBKSS) stated in a press release that due to the lockdown the lives of the teachers and their families have become worse. The SABBKSS asserted that after being deprived of salary the teachers were engaged in different works to earn their livelihood, but due to the pandemic they are not being able to do so.

The Santha president Hemanjali Bhuyan claimed that the Education Department has been harassing the teachers in the name of checking their documents. Secretary of the SABBKSS Basanta Neog alleged that each time the Santha sits for discussion with the government, it assures them to regularize their job, but in vain.

The Santha said as the government seems to take no initiative to announce publicly on regularization of the posts, so the teachers have doubts whether the assurance made by the government is real. The Santha president, secretary and working president further threatened to hold continuous protests if the government takes no initiative to fulfill their demands before August 10.
