GUWAHATI: The Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) is set to introduce Commerce in secondary level from the next academic session. It will be introduced as an elective subject for class IX in 2020 and class X in 2021.

Attending a review meeting and launching the programme ‘An Introduction to Commerce the State’, Education Minister, Siddhartha Bhattacharjee said that the subject has been decided to be introduced so that the students can have access to a strong foundation that will help them in their higher studies.

“As our students face problems while taking the Commerce stream in higher studies, to help the students tackle their problems, we are going to introduce this subject. The education department has decided to introduce accountancy, insurance and banking for having a basic glimpse of the subject,” said Bhattacharjee. He also mentioned about providing a five-day training to the government teachers for the said subjects.
