The Secondary Education department has in a notification issued on September 30, amended the ‘Assam Secondary Education ( Provincialised Schools) Service Rules-2018’ as the Assam Secondary Education (Provincialised Schools) (Amendment) Service Rules-2021.

GUWAHATI: The Secondary Education department has in a notification issued on September 30, amended the 'Assam Secondary Education ( Provincialised Schools) Service Rules-2018' as the Assam Secondary Education (Provincialised Schools) (Amendment) Service Rules-2021.

The new rules shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

The new Rules among other provisions also state that "the Person with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Right and Full Participation) Act, 1995 shall also be followed in direct recruitment. The 'Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act-2016' shall be applicable in the recruitment to the post of Principal of Provincialised Higher Secondary Schools and also in case of all cadres/grades including Grade-I and Grade-Il posts on the basis of a total number of posts identified for the purpose of recruitment.

"The reservation for persons with the benchmark 'Disabilities' shall be horizontal reservation; and, the persons selected against the quota in this category will have to be placed in the appropriate category viz., SC/ST/OBC/Unreserved depending upon the category to which they belong in the roster meant for reservation of SC/ST/OBC.

"Further, the degrees/diplomas and certificates under the distance education mode conferred by the Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University (KKHSOU), Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) under Gauhati University and Distance Education under Dibrugarh University shall be considered at par with the degrees, diplomas and certificates awarded by the State, Central Universities and Private Universities duly established as per law. Such degrees/diplomas and certificates shall be considered valid for the purpose of employment."
