GUWAHATI: Senior administrative officials in Assam won’t get long leaves until suitable replacements are found. An office memorandum published by the Department of Personnel of the Government of Assam mentioned that the Deputy Commissioners and Sub Divisional Officers (Civil) posted across different districts of the state with inadequate numbers will not be able to avail long leaves till suitable officials are posted as are attached or posted as replacements.

It also mentioned that the DCs and SDOs (Civil ) would not release the officials posted under them even for regular transfer till the posting has been given to a suitable replacement but leaves in emergency situations including leaves required on medical grounds and reasons beyond control remain outside the purview of this order.

The State Government made an observation that the IAS (Indian Administrative Service) / ACS (Assam Civil Service)/ ALRS (Assam land Revenue Service) officials posted in locations with inadequate strength proceed on long leaves of the categories of medical leave, maternity leave, child care leave, earned leave, extraordinary leave (more than 60 days) and the post remains vacant for the duration, hampering the regular functioning of these departments.
