Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation has announced that there will be disruptions in water supply in various areas of the city due to damage to a pipeline near the Panbazar locality in the Assam city.

As per a notification issued by the media cell of the GMC, there will be a disruption in the water supply on August 26 and 27 as the pipeline feeding the Sarania reservoir has been damaged near the BSNL office in Guwahati's Panbazar.

As per the GMC, many areas within the city's premises, namely Sarania, Ulubari, Lachit Nagar, GS Road, Rehabari as well as neighbouring areas, shall be affected during these two days.

"Our technical team is on the ground round the clock to ensure the water supply is restored at the earliest. Mobile water tanker will be felicitated wherever it is necessary", the GMC wrote in its notice.

"The underground pipe near the BSNL office recently burst under mysterious circumstances; taking stock of the situation, we have deployed a great number of workers to repair the leaking pipe and we hope to remedy the situation within two days. Although there is a chance of city dwellers being inconvenienced for the next two days, we will be sending tankers to the affected places to ensure the availability of water", Debajyoti Hazarika, the Commissioner of the GMC, told The Sentinel Digital over the phone.
