GUWAHATI: Ahead of the Assembly Legislative Assembly polls, all major political parties have begun poll preparations in a bid to show their strength and attract voters.

Leaders of different non-political organizations, artistes, academicians are taking a political plunge and joining different political parties.

On Friday, Singer Kalpana Patowary joined the AGP (Asom Gana Parishad) at a function held at the party office in Guwahati.

Bora joined the party in presence of party president Atul Bora, senior leader Phani Bhushan Choudhury and several other leaders.

Addressing the party workers, Patowary highlighted that the involvement of women is less in politics. I will work for our motherland Assam on behalf of the AGP in the future, she added. AGP president Bora said, "Patowary's contribution will play an important role in the cultural society. Various ups and downs will come in the party. It is important to work ahead by tackling these obstacles."

Senior leader Choudhury opined that the AGP will grow stronger with the joining of Patowary. "She is already very popular among everyone. Her popularity will help the party to attract people," Choudhury added.
