GUWAHATI: State Innovation & Transformation Aayog (SITA) vice-chairman Ramen Deka formally inaugurated the SITA-funded project 'Samriddhi Poultry' at Goriaghuli Cluster under Dimoria Development Block of the Kamrup (metro) district in an official programme held at the site on Wednesday.

SITA had sanctioned the project namely 'Samriddhi Poultry- An innovative approach for economic empowerment of rural women of Assam through model egg village' and executed with its implementing partner Assam Agricultural University through the Directorate of Research (Veterinary) AAU, Khanapara. The project is taken up at Goriaghuli Cluster under Dimoria Development Block of the Kamrup (metro) district and will cover 30 beneficiaries and provide them with some inputs like cages for layer, pullet of commercial layers and feed. Addressing the gathering, Ramen Deka hoped that the beneficiaries would utilize the opportunities provided to them properly and improve their living standards. Co-Vice Chairman Dhruba Prasad Baishya also spoke on the occasion and said that the project would help directly or indirectly in the economic development of the country.

The programme was attended by Director of Research (Veterinary), Assam Agricultural University Dr Niranjan Kalita, Gaon Pradhan Ashok Kumar Timung, Circle Officer Gopal Sharma, officials of AAU and SITA, and beneficiaries of Goriaghuli.
