GUWAHATI: The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police carried out an operation on the outskirts of Guwahati, leading to the seizure of Rs 11 crore worth of narcotics.

Based on key information, one TATA DI vehicle bearing registration number NL 01 08 A 8541 coming from Churachandpur in Manipur to a district in lower Assam was intercepted at Amingaon, and a total of 98 packets of heroin weighing a total of 1 kg, 350 gms (without cover) were found concealed in hidden chambers. Two couriers, namely Tomizur Rahman of Wangoi and Abdul Rahim of Lilong, in the state of Manipur, were apprehended.

The operation was carried out by Partha Sarathi Mahanta, DIG, STF, and Kalyan Kumar Pathak, Additional SP (HQ), Kamrup-cum-Addl SP, STF. Following the incident, necessary legal action was initiated at STF Police Station.
