GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident, a specially-abled minor was beaten by the police in the Bharalumukh area on Thursday. Outraged over the incident, Palash Chaliha, the victim's father took to social media and questioned the Assam Police why his son was baton charged.

Netizens took concern of Chaliha's woes and the post immediately went viral on social media. In the post he underlined that his son was thrashed without any justification by the personnel when he was riding pillion to the pharmacy.

In this regard, ADGP (Law & Order) GP Singh on Friday took cognizance of the matter and visited Chaliha's house. Singh apologized to the child on the behalf of the department and assured to the people that such incident will not be repeated in the future. Further, through his twitter handle, Singh ordered the Commissioner of Police MP Gupta to initiate an investigation regarding the matter.

Singh asserted that no excuses will be made and proper action will be taken against the policeman who thrashed the minor.
