The epitome of Assamese culture and heritage, Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra
has been opened for tourists on the auspicious occasion of its 23rd anniversary
on November 9.
Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra has been closed since
the first lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic and today on November 9 it has
been reopened for visitors.
Speaking in a speech Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonwal said that," It is Government's responsibility to take care of this heritage and to maintain its cleanliness but it is the responsibility of every child of Assam and the general public as well."
CM Sonwal also launched its website with the aim of letting people know more about Srimanta Sanakrdeva Kalakshetra.
In a press meet held on Sunday, Angoorlata Deka, vice
president of Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra, and MLA Batadraba, said that the
government has decided to set up five mini Kalakshetras — one each at
Dibrugarh, Diphu, Kokrajhar, Silchar and Delhi.
