State Bank of India (SBI) donates utility vehicle to Seva Bharti Purvanchal

GUWAHATI: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is deeply ingrained into the culture of State Bank of India (SBI). SBI has been actively involved in CSR activities and making meaningful and measurable impact touching lives of millions of poor and needy people across the length and breadth of the country. SBI envisions to be the premier CSR institution in India through the bank's tradition of 'Service Beyond Banking' philosophy.

Towards this objective, SBI started the New Year with a donation programme held at the Local Head Office, Guwahati on Monday, wherein a utility vehicle was donated to Seva Bharti Purvanchal by Vincent MD, Chief General Manager of SBI, Guwahati Circle in the presence of LunkimThangboi, General Manager, Network-II.

In the meeting, Vincent appreciated the activities of Seva Bharati Purbanchal towards the people of this region, specifically their relief and rehabilitation work during floods, skill development, rural development and their various vocational and health-related programmes. Vincent further hoped that the organization would further their activities and would work more dedicatedly for the development of this region. Ramen Sharma, president Seva Bharati, while addressing the small gathering praised the SBI for the support extended to the organization, which will facilitate fulfillment of their aims and objectives.

The SBI has always been committed to identifying and supporting programmes aimed at bringing a positive difference to those at the bottom of the pyramid. As per the guidelines and mandate of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the SBI is required to spend one per cent of its profits on CSR activities, stated a press release.
