GUWAHATI: The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) has alleged that the Congress party has started to do communal politics in the State.
The Congress is igniting communal sentiments among the people to gain political mileage, said State BJP spokesperson Manoj Barua in a statement.
"After the Congress MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed demanded establishment of Miya Museum in Kalakhetro, now MLA Wazed Ali Choudhury has created communal tension among the masses with his remarks," Barua stressed.
"Wazed Ali Choudhury alleged that if the BJP comes to power in 2021then all the Muslim people will have to convert to Hindu. They will put a ban on azaan (call to prayer)," said Barua adding that such statement highlights the 'hidden agenda' of the Congress party.
The BJP spokesperson questioned how the Assamese community will survive in the hands of leaders like Sherman Ali Ahmed and Wazed Ali Choudhury.
He said, the Congress party has no place for religious integrity of the State due to the vote bank politics. He also threatened the Congress party leaders to not make such anti-Assam remarks. "After the BJP government came to power in the State, people from every religion are in peace. In the 15-year regime of the Congress, not only the Muslims, other communities also had a threat to their security," Baruah underlined.
