Students' Federation of India terms government's decision as 'Tughlaqi Farman'

GUWAHATI: The SFI (Students' Federation of India), Assam State Committee staged a protest at the Guwahati Club Rotary here against the recent announcement that marks given on the basis of the evaluation formula for Class 10 and 12 will not be considered when applying for State government jobs later.

The SFI has termed this decision as a 'Tughlaqi Farman'.

"Such a decision has put tremendous mental pressure on the students and also their future is at stake. The whole process of evaluating students on the basis of the new method designed by the Committee formed will be rendered meaningless after such an irresponsible decision," said SFI, Assam State Committee general secretary Nirangkush Nath.

The SFI has demanded that the State government should immediately revoke its decision.

"On the other hand, the Chief Minister has told that the marks obtained through the evaluation will not be applicable for TET jobs, but we would like to questions whether the marks of the students passing from CBSE will be usable? Moreover, does a student is predetermined to appear for TET just after passing HSLC or HS? The CM should not create confusion by such statements," said Nath.

The SFI while conducting protest against the Clause 5 of the notification also highlighted that the formula developed for betterment and reappearance of HS students is also unacceptable and needs to be improvised.

"The formula designed for students who passed earlier year but want to appear for betterment or reappearance will put them at a disadvantageous position. The Committee should rethink the formula," the SFI opined.

The protest was staged throughout the State either from home or in public places maintaining COVID protocol. SFI Central leader Sangita Das and Kamrup district secretary Kalyan Buragohain were also present during the protest in Guwahati.
