GUWAHATI: The Guwahati International Airport conducted a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on their premises in conjunction with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The program was conducted in collaboration with all major departments of the airport. The event was attended by more than 200 employees of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Guwahati International Airport Limited (GIAL), the Airports Authority of India (AAI), several airlines and other stakeholders of the airport.
In conjunction with the same event, GIAL handed over a few dustbins to the food outlets in the vicinity of the airport. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Airport Officer mentioned, “The cleanliness of the premises is one of our primary responsibilities as tourists or passengers from regional level as well as from abroad come here and form their first opinion about the place and people. Therefore, we appeal to the shop operators and also the employees to use dustbins and help us maintain the cleanliness. We respect the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi and firmly believe that ‘cleanliness is godliness’.”
