Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad, Assam conference from October 5 in Golaghat

GUWAHATI: The 7th central conference and Tai Ahom conference of Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad, Assam (TAYPA) will be held on October 5, 6, and 7 at Golaghat.

TAYPA president Dilip Gogoi said, “The convention will be discussing the betrayal of the Tai Ahom community by past governments. The BJP-led government from both the state and the central has betrayed the communities regarding the issues of Scheduled Tribe (ST) status and did not grant autonomous council to the community. They will reciprocate the betrayal with the ensuing elections. The session will also discuss the issue of giving niche political strength to the Tai Ahom community due to the decline in political representation in the Assam Assembly and Cabinet.
