GUWAHATI: On the third day of the Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra in the Kamrup (metro) district on Friday, more than 6,000 Congress leaders, workers and intellectuals took part.

The rally covered a 10-km distance today from the Chandmari field to the Bonda field. All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) in-charge Jitendra Singh, APCC president Bhupen Borah, working president Jakir Hussain Sikdar, MLA Nandita Das, members of CPI (ML), CPI, NCP and LDP, along with intellectual Dr Hiren Gohain, senior advocate Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhury, educationist Abdul Mannan and Dr Nabanil Baruah took part in the rally.

Dr Hiren Gohain said, "This rally is against the Assam Government's misgovernance. This rally will bring a ray of hope for the people. I appeal to all to fight against the government's corruption."

Bhupen Borah said, "The Bharat Jodo Yatra has been organized to fight against the misrule of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and our fight will not stop."
