GUWAHATI: Three notorious cyber criminals were apprehended from the LGBI airport in the city on Monday by Dhubri police after a complaint of fraud was filed against the trio by an individual. Police sources informed that the three cyber criminals had gained unlawful access to the web portal of a travel agency in Dhubri and booked flight tickets from one destination to another. An amount of Rs 25,000 was reportedly pilfered by the criminals from the victim's account to book the tickets.

The trio reportedly hacked into the official web portal of a travel agency named Tulsi Tour & Travel and booked air tickets to different destinations with the money they accessed from the victim. The victim, identified as Shubham Prasad, the owner of the travel agency, had earlier filed an FIR with the Dhubri police in this connection and a case bearing number 376/23 was filed against the criminals responsible for the crime. Based on the FIR, the police launched an investigation, which led to a manhunt for the three cyber criminals. After a detailed investigation, the police were able to determine that the criminal trio would be present at Guwahati's Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport on Monday, following which a team from Dhubri police was sent to apprehend them.

The team met with success and immediately arrested the three criminals for defrauding Prasad by illegally purchasing the flight tickets with his own money. The three arrested were identified by the police as Sandip Parik and Ibne Alam Khan, both residents of Dhekiajuli, and Amarjit Modak of Udalguri. After their arrest, the trio was taken to Dhubri.
