GUWAHATI: A team of qualified instructors of 1st Battalion National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) located in Guwahati under the supervision of SN Pradhan, IPS, Director General NDRF imparting a six-day ‘Disaster Management’ training for 60 persons (10th batch) of NYKS Volunteers from Bamutia & Dukli Block District-West Tripura, Tripura from 30th December’ 2019 to 4th January’ 2020 at Patgaon Guwahati, Assam. A total of 450 NYKS volunteers of Assam trained in 9 batches by 1st Battalion NDRF. The subjects which will be covered during the training are medical first responder, collapsed structure search & rescue, rope rescue, water rescue, fire fighting and on sight management of disasters etc, a press release said.

As a part of 100 days agenda of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, NYKS in collaboration with NDRF is going to train a force of youth volunteers associated with youth clubs that can play a pivotal role in immediate response to any disaster. It is proposed to establish institutional mechanism for organized and structured engagement of NYKS by creating Block level Disaster Response Teams of Volunteers as first responders in hazard prone districts, a press release said.
