Training programme on scientific cultivation of areca nut held in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A training program on Scientific cultivation and management practices of areca nut in Assam” was held at ICAR- Central Plantation Crops Research Institute here on Friday. 50 farmers from various parts of Kamrup district participated in the training programme. Scientist in charge of the program Dr. Alpana Das briefed the participants about various aspects of scientific cultivation of areca nut and its prospect on increasing farmer income. Another Scientist, Dr. Anok Uchoi emphasized on importance of adapting different areca nut based cropping model. President of GVS Kamrup Mr. Munindra Das motivated the farmers to take up areca nut as a profitable income crop. The programme was sponsored by ICAR-VPKVS, Almora, Uttarakhand under Northeast programme.
