Tribute to Biren Sarma

Veteran social activist Late Biren Sarma, born on January 27, 1952, passed away at the Guwahati Medical College hospital on September 1 after suffering from a massive cardiac arrest around 3.20 pm late afternoon. He was 69 years of age. He leaves behind his wife, two daughters besides grandchildren and a host of relatives. His cremation was held in the same day at Ghoramara Cremation ground where all his well wishers assembled and offered their sincere condolence with all others who mourned his death. A pall of gloom descended as the news of Sarma's death spread.

Friends, admirers and close associates after hearing his demise rushed to his residence and in the cremation ground to pay their last respect. He was the man of manifold personalities who was associated with various educational, social and cultural organizations. He was the retired government official designated as Deputy Secretary in the Political Vigilance Dept. Assam Secretariat in the year 2013. He was a man of self discipline who was very much punctual in doing his official duties. His credentials are endless and moreover it is not possible to incorporate everything in this obituary reference. So, as my father-in-law, I would like to state that he was a man of profound qualities with selfless attitude who always comes forward to help and support the needy ones and also he was very pious and religious bound. On behalf of the entire family, I express my sincere gratitude and homage to all our friends and well wishers in our bereavement but regret to acknowledge them individually. May his departed soul rest in peace and will always remain in our hearts forever.
