GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Branch of the EIRC of ICAI hosted a two-day conference of chartered accountants, which was addressed by the Minister of Finance, State of Assam, Ajanta Neog, on Saturday. The theme of the conference was "Yat Bhavo, Tat Bhavati" which means "You become what you believe". CA. Raginee Goyal, Secretary of the Branch, initiated the session and welcomed the Chief Guest. Chairman EIRC, CA Debayan Patra, and Branch Chairman CA (Dr.) Ayush Saraf briefed the Minister about the background and initiatives of ICAI.
The Finance Minister said that the economy of Assam is a growing economy focused on its goals, and in order to accelerate its growth, it was important for the Ministry to identify those areas of state finance and revenue collection that require immediate attention and improvement. She proposed further constructive meetings and seeking suitable support from ICAI for the better development of the state.
CA Ravi Kumar Patwa, Immediate Past Chairman of EIRC, also spoke at the session and made suggestions and proposals on behalf of ICAI to the minister. CA Vishnu Kumar Tulsyan, Secretary of EIRC, said that the two-day conference justified the spirit of its theme as it witnessed commendable presentations by expert and dynamic speakers from across the country. The sessions on Day 1 dealt with topics relating to the audit role in indirect taxation, personal and family taxation, as well as faceless assessment. The second day witnessed sessions on office automation, start-ups, MSMEs, and indirect taxes, stated a press release.
