GUWAHATI: In a follow-up to the breakthrough into a human-trafficking racket operating in the region, when a group of 10 Rohingyas were held in Guwahati Railway Station on July 25, the GRP (Government Railway Police) again apprehended two more foreigners along with three Indian human traffickers at Badarpur, informed sources on Saturday here.

Of the two apprehended foreigners, one is a Rohingya while the other is a resident of Bangladesh. The five persons were arrested on August 4. All of them have been remanded to judicial custody on Saturday. It has been learnt that the Bangladeshi national was also accompanied by his wife and minor child. The woman was already sent to judicial custody. The child is with her.

Police sources informed that the international human racket operates with links on both sides of the Indo-Bangladesh border. After the agents on the Bangladesh side sneak the persons into the Indian side, the Indian agents receive them; and also transport their clients to various other States including Delhi. The agents charge Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 per person, added the source. Further investigation is on.
