Initiative taken to provide platform to tribal communities to present their talent: Goyal
GUWAHATI: Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Piyush Goyal on Sunday participated in the Janajati Gaurav Divas organized by Kalyan Ashram, held at Haryana Bhavan, Guwahati.
During his speech, at the Janajati Gaurav Divas, the minister highlighted the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on uplifting the tribal population in the country. The Union Minister apprised that these initiatives have been organized to provide a platform for the tribal communities to present their talent in various fields and lay out a roadmap for their all-round development. The minister also praised different artifacts made by the tribal population in the country.
The week-long celebration is dedicated to tribal communities of India, which commenced on November 15 and continues across the country with full enthusiasm and throws light on different colours of tribal culture, informed the Union Minister. Goyal stated that November 15, is the birth anniversary of the legendary tribal freedom fighter, Bhagwan Birsa Munda and will be celebrated every year as 'Janajatiya Gaurav Divas' and therefore, programmes are being organized across the country to honour the legacy of the tribal freedom fighters, who till now have remained the unsung heroes of the freedom struggle.
Industries and Commerce Minister of Assam, Chandra Mohan Patowary and Rangia MLA Bhabesh Kalita were also present at the event.
