Upper primary teachers demand job regularization; stresses on the need to provincialise almost 3000 posts

GUWAHATI: The Sadou Asom Uchcha Prathamik Vidyalayar Sahakari Shikshak Kalyan Samiti on Monday stressed that almost 3,000 posts of Upper Primary teachers have not been provincialized by the government.

Addressing a press meet here on Monday, the organization's secretary Ranjit Baruah highlighted that in 2005, five teachers were approved to teach in each of the approved upper primary schools.

"However, posts of only three out of five teachers in each of the schools were provincialized recently. The number of teachers recruited in comparison to the number of students in those schools is also less. Among the 2,107 schools, posts of one to two teachers in each of the schools are yet to be provincialized. On March 17, 2020 the Chief Minister asked us to meet the Deputy Commissioner to look into the issue but till now we haven't got any result," said Baruah.

Further, he pointed out that during the Congress regime from 2011-2015, the teachers received a financial assistance of Rs. 4,000. But from August, 2015 they stopped receiving the same.

"It is a conspiracy of the BJP government," Baruah alleged.

The Samiti has urged the government to announce publicly whether the teachers should continue serving in the approved schools or should they stop their service.
