GUWAHATI: At a time when the government is leaving no stone unturned to tackle the pandemic, recovery of used PPE kits on roadsides has raised another concern for the administration.
On Tuesday, a discarded PPE kit was recovered from a drain at Notboma, Hatigaon. According to reports, the PPE kit was dropped from a DI vehicle. Last month, tension prevailed among citizens after PPE kits were recovered from Jalukbari, Lokhra, and Lakhtokia. Following the reports, sources from the Pollution Control Board, Assam had stated that the recovered kits were uses for non-medical purposes. The source had asserted that according to guidelines of the Central Pollution Board, the bio medical waste generated from the hospitals and the quarantine centres are being disposed through the Common Bio Medical Waste Treatment Facility.
