Uzan Bazar Durga Puja Sticks To Vedic Rituals

GUWAHATI: While following a specific theme has become a trend for different Puja mandaps of the city, the Uzan bazar Barowari Puja Mandap committee celebrating its 130th year of celebration, decided to stick to vedic rituals.

Executive member of the Puja committee, Bhaben Bez said that the puja started in 1889. He added that they do not follow the modern trend including sound lights etc. Instead they like to follow the vedic rituals. Different programmes have been organized, including Arati competition, Ojha Pali, Nagara Naam etc. The puja has no particular budget as it is organized with the donation of people. This time the Puja committee has focused on following the direction passed by the administrative. There are a total 50 volunteers and one time used plastic is totally banned by the committee. 8 CCTV cameras have been arranged for security purpose though the mandap is within a secured and safe campus.
