GUWAHATI: The Assam College Teachers' Association (ACTA) has appealed to the Chief Minister to inoculate all the Under Graduate/Post Graduate students ahead of the resumption of offline classes in the colleges.

The ACTA has appealed to the CM to arrange a special vaccination drive in the colleges so that all the students are inoculated within a short period of time.

"We offer a small contribution of one day's salary as an initial measure for early commencement of a special vaccination drive in colleges for the students by the authorities concerned. The same may be done by the government by a special arrangement of direct debit from the monthly salary of the teachers. We sincerely hope that Assam will soon be able to defeat COVID-19 under your able leadership," the ACTA stated.

Talking to The Sentinel, ACTA general secretary Himangshu Maral said, "When the COVID situation returns to normalcy, the students should be confident to attend offline classes. Thus, a vaccination drive should be conducted so that the students don't get infected with the dreaded virus. We have appealed to the CM to conduct a vaccination drive in every college."

Further, Maral said that the Post Graduate examinations are underway with an open book system and the fifth-semester examination at bachelor level will also be conducted in the same manner. In this regard, the college teachers will be given training on June 18 and 19 about the open book system.
