Assam: JICA Scheme Water Supply Halted in Guwahati Till June 6

GUWAHATI: Water supply through the projects financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Guwahati, Assam has been stopped till June 6, as announced on Tuesday, for necessary inspection, reporting and following repairs of the pipelines if needed.

A proper investigation regarding the pipes is being conducted after the incident of water pipeline burst that took place in Kharghuli last week. This incident led to the death of one and injury to several others, apart from massive losses to property. Another leak of much lesser intensity took place in Maligaon a few days after the Kharghuli incident.
