GUWAHATI: The BJP Assam Pradesh has demanded punishment to the culprits who attacked a procession in connection of the Bhoomi Pujan of the Ayodhya Ram Temple at Borsola in Sonitpur district on Wednesday.
In a statement issued to the media on Thursday, BJP's state spokesperson Rupam Goswami said, "Ever since the BJP came to power in Assam with Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal leading it from the front there had been no ethnic clash in the State. The administration is on alert not to allow any such incidents to recur. The BJP which has been in power at the Centre and in the State is committed to set up not only Ram Mandir, but Ram Rajya as well. Under no circumstances miscreants who are out to create unrest in peaceful Ram Rajya can escape. We condemn the Borsola incident and demand punishment to the culprits. We warn those involved in such acts to stay away from such activities in the State.
"The Bhoomi Pujan at Ayodhya did create ripples in Assam along with rest of the country. The joy which was visible among a section of people of the State couldn't be tolerated by another section. Maybe, a section of unscrupulous members of the Congress, AIUDF and the Left parties have instigated people of carry out subversive activities at some places in the State. That might have led to the incident at Borsola."
