GUWAHATI: The Fight Against Injustice of APSC, an organization, has said that the weak and some mysterious stands taken by the State government in the cash-for-job scam in the APSC (Assam Public Service Commission) is the mother of all job scams in the State like that of SI (sub-inspector) recruitment.

Addressing the media at Guwahati Press Club here on Saturday, Admin of the organization, Manas Pratim Baruah said, "One of the accused in the scam Dr. Mrigen Saikia had been absconding for around three years and a half. However, he got bail due to the weak stand taken by the State government. Now he's getting the patronage of the government on the pretext of becoming an approver in the case. He got bail in January, but his statement hasn't been taken as yet.

"Now, Rakesh Paul's sibling Rajiv Paul, who has also been absconding in the case, may get bail like Dr. Saikia. We caution that government that the investigation into the cash-for-job scam in the APSC shouldn't escalate into another inquiry.

"Another accused of the scam, Pabitra Koiborto is the other approver in the case. What information has Koiborta revealed as an approver in the case? Why no investigation against Dr. Saikia and Koiborto is carried out by the ED (Enforcement Directorate)? We demand the State government to undertake polygraph and narco-analysis tests of both Dr. Saikia and Koiborto.

"The investigation into the SI recruitment scam in the State is set to lose steam like the cash-for-job scam in the APSC. It is also surprising that an APSC official's telephone call regarding taking bribe in the Assam Finance Service exam, 2013 was published in the media. However, even after making that known to the Chief Minister's Vigilance Cell, no action has been taken against the official," Baruah said.
