Webinar on 'biohazards' by Dakshin Kamrup College

GUWAHATI: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Dakshin Kamrup College, Mirza organized an International Webinar on "Biohazard: Environment, Health and Safety" on August 8 when Dr. Akan Das, Post Doctoral Fellow, Institute of Environmental Sciences, Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland joined it as a resource person.

The webinar was inaugurated by Dr. Kali Prasad Sarma, Professor, Department of Environmental Science, Tezpur University. Dr. Nabajyoti Das, Principal, Dakshin Kamrup College, Mirza delivered the welcome address.

Inaugurating the webinar, Dr. Sarma said that poor environment affects the life of the people. Due to the degrading environmental heath because of different hazards, people suffer.

Then resource person Dr. Akan Das discussed the topic at length. According to him, hazards pose a serious emergency situation. Biohazards are the greatest threat of mankind and microbes are the main bio-agent for different diseases. Dr. Das said that sustainable living is the key to balance the ecosystem.

After the deliberation, Dr. Das, along with Dr. Kali Prasad Sarma, interacted with the participants and answered their queries. The technical support for the webinar was lent by Barnali Kalita, lecturer, Department of Political Science and Manabendra Kalita, lecturer, Department of Biotechnology.

This webinar was the last of the series of four International Webinars to be organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the College, a press release said.
