Welfare of child labourers reviewed in Guwahati city

GUWAHATI: A meeting was held at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (M) here on Friday to review the work for welfare of child labourers carried out by several NGOs in the district under the National Child Labour Project (NCLP).

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha directed the officials of the Labour and Social Welfare departments to submit monthly reports on the activities carried out by these NGOs. Jha also asked the officials to try and bring the street children of the Kamakhya area into the fold of formal education. He said that these children may be provided with books and other educational aids as per requirement.
