GUWAHATI: Saiyam Mazumdar (15), from Kamrup (M) Assam, has been awarded Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar Award, 2024 in the field of social service. He is a wildlife conservationist who started his journey when he was 10. He started off by saving and taking care of stray animals, exhibiting incredible compassion. At the age of 12, he turned his attention to saving snakes and became India’s Youngest snake rescuer. He bravely saved snakes and informed others about their ecological significance. His accomplishments were officially recognized by the India Book of Records and Ingenious Charm World Records, at the age of 15. His contributions extend beyond individual animals, fostering environmental stewardship among the youth, stated a press release.
