GUWAHATI: Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam (SSSA) – a familiar name in the field of school education which runs schools of vernacular medium naming after the great Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sankardev as Sankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan – organized quit a large number of workshops on diverse fields.

The samiti was established in 1979 with an Assamese medium primary school at Ambikagiri Nagar, Guwahati. At present it has 556 vernacular medium schools scattered throughout the Brahmaputra Valley and Karbi Anglong district. Among these schools 110 are established in tribal areas. For administrative reasons the entire area is divided into 8 Vibhags (divisions) and 53 Sankuls (zones).

As per 2019 records 1,66,011 students are being guided for their all-round development like physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual by 8,847 dedicated teachers. As a result of their hard work and dedication students shine in the merit list of HSLC examination conducted by SEBA every year.

Meghasri Borah of Sankardev Shishu Niketan, Narayanpur in the Lakhimpur district secured the first position in the HSLC examination, 2019. Not only in education, the Samiti is committed to protect and enrich the local languages, culture and tradition along with all its ethnic communities for which the Samiti has been recognized as an organization for all round welfare of the masses.

To enhance the capability, improvement in the educational environment and imbibe the spirit of nationalism, the Samiti has organized quite a number of mega workshops on five basic subjects of Vidya Bharati – Physical, Yoga, Music, Sanskrit and Moral & Spiritual along with other subjects like Spoken English, Shishu Vatika (Play School), Vedic Mathematics, Girl Child Education, Sports, Rural Education, Sanskar Kendra, Science teaching, Tribal Education etc. in 91 different places among its 8 Vibhags. Teachers attending from almost all schools in the workshops enthusiastically reaped the benefit of those and expressed eagerness for such kinds of workshop in future also, a press release said.
