Xahitya Divas Celebrated By Assam Jatiya Bidyalay And Rasaraj Sahitya Chora

GUWAHATI: In order to pay tribute to all the literary icons of Assamese literature, Assam Jatiya Bidyalay in collaboration with its literary cell namely ‘Rasaraj Sahitya Chora’ observed ‘Xahitya Divas’ on Tuesday in the school premises. The programme began with the garlanding of the portrait of one of the legends of modern Assamese literature Lakshminath Bezbaruah and lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Narendra Mohan Goswami, Academic officer of the school. After the welcome address delivered by the Principal Ghanashyam Medhi, the significance of the occasion was conveyed to the audience by Dolly Choudhury, teacher of the department of English. On the occasion of the Divas, a wall magazine namely ‘Kakatar Topola’ was inaugurated by the Rector of the school Sri Ranjit Narayan Deka. This was followed by a very fruitful and inspiring lecture by the chief guest of the programme, lecturer Jivan Narah, also famous poet and author, emphasizing the richness of Assamese language.
