Guwahati: Hirok Rajbongshi, an accused in the Zubeen Garg attack case is reportedly on the run, police officials said on Thursday (August 13).

Assam police officials earlier in the morning today reached the youth's Pub-Sarania residence of the youth who owns the Ciaz vehicle that Zubeen had named in his FIR.

Although Hirok was not present at his residence, his elder brother Amar Jyoti Rajbongshi was taken in for questioning. As per reports, Hirok has also deactivated his Facebook profile.

Amar Jyoti told media persons that he has no hand in what his brother did and is not involved in any way.

"6 youths, with beer bottles with hand, insulted and abused Zubeen. We have registered a case and have launched an investigation into the case. Efforts are on to nab the 6 accused", Guwahati police commissioner Munna Prasad Gupta told reporters while inspecting the Independence Day parade venue at Judges' Field.

Assam's singing sensation Zubeen Garg was reportedly abused by unidentified miscreants on Thursday (August 13) in Guwahati city's Ganeshmandir area.

The singing sensation has now filed a complaint at the Dispur police station. As per Zubeen's FIR, a copy of which is available with The Sentinel Digital, he was headed towards his residence at 'Synergy Apartments' in the city from a studio at Zoo Road around 12:40 am on Thursday when a vehicle bearing registration number AS-01-BY-0675 overtook his vehicle near the Ganeshmandir area.

At least 6 people were traveling in the vehicle during curfew hours in the city, Zubeen stated. These people stepped out of their vehicle and proceeded to verbally abuse the musician.

They made derogatory remarks against the star with beer bottles in hand. "When I tried to defend they got aggressive and molested me with unparliamentary words", Zubeen wrote in his complaint.

Zubeen Garg was accompanied by his personal bodyguard and 2 PSOs provided by the state government for his protection.
